How to create Glasses for Stock and F&B

By the end of this training article, you will be able to: 

• Create new units for glasses or other recipes
• Create glasses for stocktake purposes  

Creating Glasses

When creating a bottled item in Materials > Items you have a simple option of creating glasses simultaneously, without having to create the glasses that you will be selling out of this bottle one by one. 

Firstly, we must check that the glasses we wish to create for our hotel or restaurant are configured in: 

Navigate to Configuration > Materials > Units  

Here, you need to create the glass units necessary for your property (this must be done once). The information that you must enter for each unit is: 

• Measurement Unit: The full name of the unit 
• Type: the type this unit should be 
• Basic Unit: the actual volume of the unit (example ml) 
• Conversion: into how many units of the Type does this (for example glass) covert 
• Glass Name: For example, Large Glass or Medium Glass 

This configuration must be done once and before creating items and glasses. Also, you must make sure that the units are correct in order for the stocktake to work properly later on! 

Creating Glasses for Items

Now go to Materials > Items Find the item you want to create glasses for and select the Glasses button at the top right part of the window.  

 The window that will open is the following: 

The information that you can see are the glasses you have created in configuration > materials 

• Unit Name: The unit name 
• Glass Name: The glass name 
• Create Glasses: Use this to create the glasses you have selected above 

Now select the Create Glasses button at the bottom right-hand side of the window and the new items will be created. 

The glasses are created automatically along with the recipe ingredients that are needed for the stocktake to work correctly.
