This is a quick reference guide that shows you how to quickly add a new menu item to a POS outlet. For a full rundown of items and outlets view our guide on setting up an outlet and advanced items settings you will need to see our full guide.
If the item you wish to add to the POS has already been created in HART, please skip this first step and go to Adding the Button.
Creating an Item
Navigate to Materials > Items where a blank screen will open for you.
Fill in the Product Name, and then in the Groups section choose Type as Product, and Category as either Food or Beverage. Fill in the Bin Number if you are using them for wines, and put a description of the product in the description box. Press F3 to save.

Adding the Button to an Outlet
Navigate to Configuration > Outlets and select the Outlet you are editing from the list at the top, then click on the Sales Group you wish to add the Item to from the list in the middle.
Next, on the bottom screen, right-click and add a new entry and fill in the fields identified below.
- On: tick to activate the item on POS
- W: Used only for Order at Table App
- D: will be deleted when selected and Delete Selected is used
- Pos: The Position on the POS (numerical)
- Item: Click to open the drop-down list and start typing the name of the item you created
- Colour: If you wish the button to have a colour (used for grouping) click to select it here
- Revenue Centre: Select from the drop-down list the correct revenue centre for this item
- VAT: Select the correct Item VAT from the drop-down
- Price: Manually type the price of the item
Press F3 to save. The item will now appear on your POS.
