How to Install a PDF (Virtual) Printer

In order for you to convert your reports and invoices into PDF, you must either have the Adode Acrobat PDF Editor (or some relevant program) installed on your computer or you will need to install a virtual printer on your computer. 

HART PMS offers two options on virtual printers: 

1. The Sybase Datawindow PS. 

2. The Bullzip printer. 

FIRST OPTION: SYBASE DATAWINDOW PS

To install the virtual printer on your computer, you must follow these simple steps: 

STEP ONE: DOWNLOAD THE VIRTUAL PRINTER FILE 

1. Right click on your My Computer icon and select Properties. 

2. The Properties window will show you if your computer uses a 32 bit operating system (OS) or a 64 bit operating system (OS). Search the Properties window in order to find your OS. 

3. Open an internet browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome etc) and key in http://hart-pms.com/install/hartpdf32.exe if you have a 32 bit OS or hartpms.com/install/hartpdf64.exe if you have a 64 bit OS. 

4. Once you key in the desired url a small window will open that will ask you to save the virtual printer file (Save File). 

5. When the download procedure is over a hartpdf32.exe or a hartpdf64.exe file will be saved on your computer (inside the folder where you receive your internet Downloads). 

6. Find the file and double click on the downloaded .exe to run. 

7. Press the Setup button on your right:

9. Let the file complete its procedures and once it is finished press Finish: 

You have completed the first step.

STEP TWO: INSTALL THE VIRTUAL PRINTER 

1. Go to the Start option of your computer (bottom left part of your screen) and select Printers and Faxes. 

2. Select Add Printer. 

3. Inside the new window that opens press Next and proceed with the printer installation: 

4. On the next window select Local Printer attached to this computer and press Next: 

5. On the next window go to the Use the following port selection and select FILE: (Print to file). Then press Next: 

6. On the next window press the Have Disk button: 

7. On the next window click on Browse: 

8. Go to My Computer→ C: → Program Files→ gs folder→ gs9.02 folder→ lib folder→ double click on the ghostpdf.inf file. 

9. Once you select the ghostpdf.inf file you will return to the previous window and there you must click on OK and then select Next: 

10. On the next window you need to change the printer name from Acrobat Distiller to Sybase Datawindow PS. The name should be exactly like this: 

11. You do not want to use this printer as the default printer (Select No). Then select Next. 

12. On the next window select Do not share this printer and then press Next:  

13. On the next window select No where it says Do you want to print a test page? and then select Next. 

14. On the next window press Finish. 

Your virtual PDF printer is installed and now ready to use.

STEP THREE: HOW TO USE THE VIRTUAL PRINTER 

The procedure mentioned before will have to be followed only ONCE for the virtual printer to be installed. Then you can use it inside the HART PMS software in order to convert your report and invoices into .pdf files. 

The first thing that you will notice is that the Sybase Datawindow PS printer will appear on your User Settings window (this is the Printer Definition window that will appear in front of you once you log on to HART). 

ATTENTION: In order for your new virtual printer to work, you must have at least on printer selected as Folio printer (not necessarily the Sybase Datawindow PS printer). 

Now inside the HART PMS software you can convert your reports and invoices into .pdf files only by selecting the PDF icon on your toolbar or pressing the PDF buttons that exist in many places inside the software. 

SECOND OPTION: BULLZIP 

In order to install the Bullzip virtual printer, just follow the steps indicated below: 

1. Go to www.bullzip.com. Press the green ‘Free Download’ button underneath the ‘PDF Printer’. 

2. On the page that will open select ‘Download’ inside the ‘Standard’ column. 

3. Save the file (Setup_BullzipPDFPrinter….exe) on your desktop. 

4. Double click on the file so that the installation begins (Run→Choose Language and ΟΚ→Next (I accept the agreement)→Next→Next→Next→Install). 

5. While logging on to your HART PMS software, stop at the ‘User Settings’ window (the first one after Logon), find the Bullzip PDF Printer and select PDF as its Usage.
