Managing Derived Rates using Daily Seasons

By the end of this article, you will understand how to dynamically manage the seasons and pricing within derived rates when using a daily season.

When a rate is derived as a standard the Child Rate will mirror the Master rate in terms of rooms available and seasons.  The design scope of this tool is where a Master Derived Rate is being used and Child Rates should only contain certain room types, have fixed pricing or be used for a certain period (e.g. a seasonal promotional rate). This removes the need to have multiple restrictions in play around derived rate plans.

Please note: This can only be used if you use daily rates. 

Removing Seasons and Room Types

Within the Child Rate click the Derived button to display the Derived Rate Options window followed by the Delete button:

In the next window select the rate plans that should be effected from the left-hand side of the screen.  Selecting specific room types and a date range from the right-hand side will delete those specific room types from seasons within this date range.  Selecting Everything will delete the daily seasons within the date range selected:

Locking specific room types

As a standard when the Master Rate Plan pricing is updated, this will automatically flow to all Child Rates and update their pricing.  If it's wished that pricing for specific room(s) should be fixed and excluded from any pricing changes then the Edit/Lock feature should be used.

After pressing the Derived button click the Edit button:

In the following window press the Wizard button and select the room type(s) from the left hand side which require locking and from the right-hand side the date range this should apply to.  Once complete press the Set button to confirm.  Following this, any update to the Master Rate Plan pricing will not affect the room types defined:

Excluding Child Rate Plans from new seasons added to the Master Rate Plan

For Child Rate Plans which are seasonal promotions, future additions of seasons to Master Rate Plans should not affect the Child Rate by adding new seasons.  In this scenario, the above procedure should be followed (locking specific room types) however future dates set.  Once complete if new daily rates are added to the Master Rate Plan these will not be inserted into the Child Rate Plan with any details

Removing Locks

Exclusions to updates of specific seasons and room types can be reversed.  After pressing the Derived button click the Edit button:

Within the next screen click the Remove button to launch the removal wizard.  Select the room type(s) where the lock should be removed from left hand side of the screen followed by the date range this should be applied to on the right hand side of the screen before pressing the Delete button to confirm the changes:
