Using hide codes on the room booking engine

Modified on Thu, 28 Jul, 2022 at 11:33 AM

By the end of this training article you will:

  • Understand the functionality of hide codes
  • Be able to create hide codes
  • Create direct URL links for hide codes

What are hide codes

Hide codes allow you to remove a rate plan from the general public view on the rooms booking engine. The rate would only be accessible to anyone with the direct link URL.

In addition, you can set the booking window where the hide code URL will work, so it is useful for limited-time sales.

Creating Hide Codes

In Cloud Reservations, navigate to Reservations > Rates > Rate plans and select the rate plan you will be adding the hide code to.

On the far right of the rate plan details, you will see the letter H. Ensure this column is ticked to hide the rate plan on the general booking engine.

Next, select the Book Between tab and add a new entry.

  • From: the date the hide code will be available to work from
  • To: the date the hide code will cease to work
  • Code: the hide code for this rate plan which will be used in the URL.

Save your changes.

Because the hide code applies to an entire rate plan, availability is managed there rather than in a stay dates window like with promotion codes.

Create the URL

At the end of your base booking engine URL, add the suffix hidecode=. In the case of the example above, it would be hidecode=safari

Your hide code is now ready to use.
