Exclude different room types from channel managers
NOTE: this must be completed at set-up stage of the rate plan and prior to any syncing. If rates have already been sent to a channel manager then you cannot add exclusions afterwards. |
When you first create a rate plan in HART PMS that you are connecting to channel managers, you may wish to exclude certain room types from different channels, but allow the room types to be booked manually or on different channels.
To do this navigate to the channel tab in the rate plan, and when you have added your channel as you normally would, ensure the channel is highlighted and in the excluded room types window you can either right-click, add an entry to choose the excluded room type from the drop-down box or if you have several rooms type you wish to exclude use the wizard button.
Add the room type(s), then with the room type highlighted in the bottom window add the to and from dates and the particular days. This can also be achieved via the wizard button.
You will then need to run a sync as normal.
The Restriction Window
Navigate to Sales > Restrictions and the below window appears. The red dots displayed on the calendar on the left-hand side indicate that these days are Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
To add a one-day restriction
Press the add button and a line will appear in the restriction details window, here is where you can add the restriction information accordingly.
- Date: choose the day for the restriction from the calendar dropdown
- Day: the day will automatically fill in once you have chosen your date
- Rate plan: choose the rate plan you wish to set the restriction for from the drop-down
- Room Type: choose the room type you wish to select the restriction for
- Min: free type a min length of stay,
- Max: free type a max length of stay
- Lead: free type a lead number
- CTA: tick this box if you wish to set a close to arrival restriction
- CTD: tick this box if you wish to set a close to departure restriction
- Stop: tick this box if you wish to add a stop sell
- Rms: under development
- Channel: choose the channel that you wish to add the restriction for from the drop-down box
NOTE: The lead time set here is not compatible with third-party channel managers. |
Once you have added the restriction press the save button and you will see the colour block according to the restriction you have set appear on the calendar
NOTE: the restriction legend is at the bottom of the restriction window screen on the right-hand side. |
If you wish to remove this restriction press the delete button.
Setting block restrictions
If you need to set a block restriction you can do so by pressing the wizard button which brings up the below window
Add the from and to dates and press the show button to see what rate plans are available during that time period.
Tick the rate plan(s) and room type you wish to set the restriction for and press the retrieve button so you can see what restrictions are already set.
Press the Add tab then press the Create button and the restriction window appears, add in your period for the restriction, then press the Edit button next to the restriction you wish to add.
Choose from;
- CTA: close to arrival
- CTD: close to departure
- MinStay: min stay
- Stop sales: stop sales
- MaxStay: max stay
- Lead: lead time
- Rooms/ Days: under development
Next, choose your days for the period that you wish to set the restriction(s) for and press the OK button.
The restriction you have set will then appear as a red block in this section.
and it will appear on the restriction calendar on the date(s) you have set.
Removing a restriction
Highlight the restriction and press the delete button if removing one-day restrictions.
If you need to remove multiple days press the multi delete button and the below window appears.
Add in the from and to dates, highlight your rate plan and the restriction(s) will appear on the right-hand side you can then tick the one you wish to remove or press the All button to tick them all.
Press the delete button and the restriction will be removed for those that are ticked.

Understand the restrictions wizard
The Restrictions Wizard allows for the bulk input of restrictions across singular or multiple rooms or rate plans. The wizard holds any information inputted allowing for a reference of previous restrictions loaded. Live restrictions are detailed on the main restriction window.
- Rate Plans and/or Rooms with Live restrictions listed on the left hand side of the wizard that have a red shaded background have active restrictions. Please note only active rate plans will be selectable via the wizard and where restrictions exist for rate plans that are no longer active, whilst they will appear in the main restrictions window the rate plan name will be red
- A selection can be made on either a rate plan or room type after which the Retrieve button can be pressed, however pressing the Filter button will allow further honing on the results e.g. The Test Discount rate plan is retrieved following which the specific room type(s) are selected and the filter button pressed to reduce the results
- When a filter is applied a red dot will appear next to the filter button reducing the results. to remove the filter press the Unfilter button at the top of the screen
- The upper right area of the screen details any restrictions applied to the chosen room and rates. The lower left area of the screen details any currently live restrictions
- Restrictions should be removed as per the above instructions using the multi-delete option
